Common name:Ground Cover Myoporum
Botanical name:Myoporum parvifolium

This groundcover will grow quickly to 8" x 6' . Does well in well in partial or full sun with moderate water. It produces delicate white flowers that bloom in spring. The bright green leaves are slightly fleshy. It is a good cover on slopes. It may die if overwatered. Native to Australia.

Botanical name:Hesperaloe campanulata

An attractive, smaller-sized accent that will reach about 3' x 3'. Plants do best in full sun and in well-drained soil. Stiff 1/2" wide leaves have marginal white fibers. Showy flower stalks with light pink blooms provide interest in spring and summer. Has an extremely long flowering period. Flowers attract hummingbirds. Native in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The large amount of flamboyant color on this species creates a wonderful accent in a garden. Varieties can be in bush or vine form; colors vary. Once established, they need very little supplemental water. All varieties are susceptible to fost damage. The 'Barbara Karst" variety blooms bright red in full sun; more crimson if in shade. It blooms early and long. It is a good bloomer in the low desert.
