Botanical name:Caesalpinia cacalaco

Small tree or large shrub to about 15' x15'. Branches are armed with medium thorns. These plants will bloom profusely between winter & spring with showy yellow flowers on dense spikes, depending on the coldness of winter. Seed pods are reddish & attractive. Native to Mexico.

Succulent annual that grows quickly to 3' x 3'. Leaves are medium green and palmately compound. Violet-blue flowers appear on spikes in the spring. Sow seeds in fall for spring color.

Sweet Acacia

Botanical name:Acacia farnesiana

Large thorny shrub or small tree has a soft texture as a result of its finely divided leaves. Bright yellow flowers have a light, sweet fragrance. Bloom is heaviest in the spring and may continue intermittently throughout summer and fall. Evergreen in mild winters. Branches are armed with paired spines to 2". Flowering can be impaired by cold.

This graceful, slender-growing pine has a pyramidal form to about 70'. Its needles are long and drooping in bundles of 3. The foliage is a blue-green color, maturing to a dark green shade.
